Description:

1844年《中美望厦条约》（进一步扩大领事裁判权，第一次是《五口通商口岸》）以及 《中法黄埔条约》签订。

美国鸦片贩子在虎门销烟中受伤严重，听闻中英南京条约签订，美国政府设法与大清签订条约。
因为鸦片生意抢不过英国，美国着重传教权并在条约中禁止了鸦片生意。

该条约法律严谨，成为之后不平等条约的范本。
