These are folding books created during the Mayan Civilization in South America.
These were created from bark word, particularly wild fig trees or amate.
Their material was thought to be superior in durability than Egypt's writing material, papyrus.
By the 16th Century, majority of these relics were destroyed by conquistadors and Catholic Priests.
