In 1861, Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States. When he spoke for his elction, he talked about making peace in the south (“God has created humanity, but they have rebelled against God”) That quote from the Bible is kind of how Lincoln felt about slavery. He also insisted that the states who would decide to split with the ideas of the rest of the country, would get reenforced federal laws. moral Lincoln opposed slavery and he was part of the Republican Party. slavery was not allowed to expand into any more territories. He put a period to end to slavery and was a big help to stop America from breaking apart in the Civil War.
