jan 1, 1808 - Publishing a theory about elements and starting the atomic model.
Description:
In 1808, it was generally accepted that matter was made of elements and not the four-element model from 450B.C. John Dalton, an English chemist, published a theory explaining elements and non-elements, and why they are different. His atomic model stated:
All matter is made of atoms, which are small particles too small to see.
Each element has its own kind of atom, with its own particular mass.
Compounds are created when atoms of different elements link to form molecules.
Atoms can not be created, destroyed or subdivided into chemical changes.
He also stated that atoms were a solid sphere in his atomic model. This was the new base to science and theories started to develop quicker from this point on.
