jan 1, 450 BC - Four-element model
Description:
In 450B.C., A Greek Scholar named Empedocles created a model called the four-element model. He proposed that matter was made of four elements, air, fire, water, earth. He concluded that matter was made of these four substances, for example, a volcanic rock might be two parts fire and one part air. He also did a few experiments to test his theories. He found out that air, in fact, even though it is invisible it is not non-existent because it takes up space. Therefore, it has to be some kind of matter.
