Description:

In 190 BC, Seleucid power was undermined by Rome after the battle of Magnesia. At about same time, the Orontid dynasty was overthrown by a local ruler, Artashes (Artaxias). His power was confirmed by the Romans. His accession instigated a vigorous period of Armenian history.
