jan 1, 1952 - Watson and Crick claim DNA is double helix shape
Description:
- James Watson and Francis Crick were among many scientists attempting to uncover the shape and structure of DNA.
- Watson had travelled to the University of Cambridge, where he and Crick partnered up.
- Watson and Crick claimed DNA was a double helix shape, and while they were correct on its shape, they were completely wrong on its structure.
- American chemist Linus Pauling also proposed that DNA was actually a triple helix shape, which was incorrect.
- Watson and Crick continued approaching the question by modelling DNA and trying to use the laws of chemistry and physics to see which atoms went were.
