Description:

After the publishing of Thomas Paine's Common Sense, the colonist longed for independence more than before. Due to this, and a recommendation by Congress, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. The declaration included the want for peoples rights, equality, and civic duties of the colonist.

Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4th.
