The bush pilots Vic Horner and Wop May battled snowstorm and minus 40 degrees weather to fly anti-toxins to Fort Vermillion to stop a diphtheria epidemic that threatened to wipe out Métis and Native in the fort. They were apparently so frozen when they return that was necessary to lifted them form the cockpit.Added to timeline:
