After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Orthodox Church became the main Orthodox church in the territory of the former USSR, except for Georgia and Armenia. This territory, with the addition of China, Mongolia and Japan, is called canonical territory.

После распада Советского Союза Русская православная Церковь стала главной православной церковью на территории бывшего СССР, кроме Грузии и Армении. Данная территория с прибавлением Китая, Монголии и Японии названа канонической территорией.
