Description:

This operation was a covert CIA mission to turn the position of power from the Prime Minister Mosaddegh to the shah Pahlavi. This coup caused civil unrest throughout Iran, and left the government and economy unstable. Though this seems like a ridiculous move on the part of the U.S. it was very beneficial to keep its enemies unable to progress. As they would be less capable to cause trouble and pain for America. Additionally, the Shah had made several deals agreeing to selling oil to the west for very cheap.
