jan 8, 1901 - Insular Cases

Description:

The Insular Cases were a series of supreme court cases that decided the future of the Spanish territories captured in the Spanish American War. They decided that the territories would remain territories and not states. The cases also decided that since Alaska had been incorporated into the US, it would be subject to the constitution whereas Puerto Rico and the other islands were not subject to the constitution.
