Description:

Nicolaus Copernicus was born in 1473. He is essetntial to the scientific revolution for he brought the idea of a sun-centered universe, heliocentric universe theory. He claimed that the earth revolves around the sun and that it is not the center of the universe. This refuted the current "common knowledge" that God had put the earth at the center of the universe. Johannes Kepler confirmed Copernicus's theory and explained that planetary movement is a mathematical formula and that Planets move around the sun in elliptical orbits, not circles. The Heliocentric theory overturned the idea of religion being an answer to the universe's structure.
