apr 5, 1764 - Sugar Act

Description:

Prime Minister George Grenville crafted the Sugar Act to replace the Molasses Act of 1733, which was widely ignored by the colonies because of its inability to create a profit. Through the Sugar Act, the duty on molasses was lowered in order to create profit and customs enforcement became stricter in order to ensure obedience to the law.
