jan 5, 131 - Change in Art

Description:

Art in Medieval times focused on Religion art, mostly catholic themes, which eventually gave way to renaissance art. "It was a gradual shift from the abstract forms of the medieval period to the representational forms of the 15th century." Renaissance art with a more naturalistic style, which shows how people really look. It is much more realistic compared to Medieval art. The renaissance style is much like that of classical Rome. This transition was helped by important figures like Giotto and Botticelli whose naturalistic art was influential and moved away from the less realistic European art. During this time came the separation and definition of Naturalism, Secularism, and Humanism. Naturalism is style and theory based on the accurate depiction of detail. Secularism: involving religion, showed detail and accurate scenery, anatomy, and nature. Humanism: a concept that places human beings, not god or faith. Art made the human body a thing of its own personal beauty, and it wasn't just painted for god. This is similar to classical rome.
