30 декабря 2000 года Президент России Владимир Путин утвердил обновлённый текст Государственного гимна России, музыкой повторяющей государственный гимн СССР. В этот же день на торжественном приёме по случаю Нового года в Большом Кремлёвском дворце состоялась премьера Государственного гимна Российской Федерации. 1 января 2001 года этот гимн прозвучал после поздравления Президента и боя курантов Спасской башни.On December 30, 2000, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the updated text of the National anthem of Russia, with music repeating the national anthem of the USSR. On the same day, the premiere of the National anthem of the Russian Federation took place at a reception on the occasion of the New Year in the Grand Kremlin Palace. On January 1, 2001, this anthem was played after the President's congratulations and the chimes of the Spasskaya Tower.
