12h 5min, apr 6, 1994 y - Violence Against Women Act
Description:
Increased federal resources to apprehend and prosecute men guilty of violent acts against women. It was a triumph for women's groups that fought hard to persuade congress to legislate federal protections for women on the grounds that states were failing in their efforts to address this violence. The enactment of VAWA 1994 created an effort begun in 1990 to draft and pass what became this landmark legislation.
