The Civic Party, a Hong Kong political party, issued a press release saying that two of its members, lawmakers Dennis Kwok and Charles Mok, and the former Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration, Anson Chan, met with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Pelosi Nancy and officials from the U.S. Secretary of State's office during their trip to the United States. Pelosi was quoted in the press release as saying that if the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance amendments are passed, the personal safety of Americans and the interests of American businesses in Hong Kong would definitely be affected.
