34 former senior Hong Kong top officials and lawmakers wrote a letter to the Chief Executive Carrie Lam on June 23, urging the immediate withdrawal of the proposed amendments to the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance and the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry. As the situation deteriorated, theyy once again asked the Hong Kong goverment to set up an independent commission of inquiry.
