jun 15, 2019 - 6.15 Carrie Lamannounced a moratorium on amending the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance supported the police's characterization of the June 12 protests as riots.
Description:
Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced a moratorium on amending the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance to re-communicate with the community, and said she supported the police's characterization of the June 12 protests. She did respond to whether an independent commission of inquiry would be set up. She also pointed out that Taiwan had made it clear that it would not accept the transfer of Chan Tong-kai, who was suspected of murdering in Taiwan, under the existing legislative amendments, so even the completion of the scheduled legislation might not be satisfactory to the families of the deceased.
