jul 14, 1789 - French Revolution

Description:

During this period, French citizens razed and redesigned their country’s political landscape, uprooting centuries-old institutions such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. With the French Revolution began the institutionalization of secularized individualism in both social life and politics; individualism and rationality found expression in parliamentary government and written constitutionalism. Through the revolution, liberalism and the rights of individuals were promoted. As a result of the revolution, the Declaration of the Rights of Man was produced, reflecting the principles of classical liberalism since the Declaration placed high value on the rights and freedoms of each individual citizen.
