oct 1, 1950 - Rise in Television Viewing through the 1950's

Description:

There was no other method of television delivery until the 1950s with the beginnings of cable television and community antenna television. During the decade period of 1950, people started owning television sets, making it possible for television shows to be broadcasted right to their homes. Animations such as Crusader Rabbit which would be one of the first animation series to air on television, started creating a new means for animation. The Walt Disney Company first ventured into the television industry as early as 1950, beginning with the one-hour Christmas special, One Hour in Wonderland. This was followed by the 1951 Christmas special, The Walt Disney Christmas Show.

With the age of television rising, you were much more likely to turn on your television than to head to a movie theater.
