To take notes in class, I use a BIC lead pencil. Originating from France, BIC has become a very popular brand of pens and pencils for Canadian consumers. By having good quality for a good price, BIC has developed a competitive advantage amongst other pen and pencil companies. Globalization impacted the economy because BIC has factories in many parts of the world and there are low tariff rates because of the widespread location of factories around the world. The society is also impacted because there is more choice in the market for consumers when buying pens and pencils. The environment is affected because countries like India and Brazil are stripped of their resources for the benefit of BIC. Finally, politics is affected because the revenue is converted into Euros, which is available to be used in 19 out of 28 countries in Europe. This demonstrates the merging of currency.
