Description:

Vladimir Komarov died after his pod's parachute didn't deploy when returning from the Soyuz-1. This mission was essentialy a suicide mission as the Soviet's new that the space craft had major safety issues. Komarov only accepted the mission so that one of his fellow cosmonauts would not be forced to go instead, and he requested that the Soviet government give him an open-casket service so the world could see what they had done to him. He was not given such service, but instead was cremated shortly after his autopsy.
