Obedience to Authority
Description:
Hofling conducted an experiment in a hospital with a group of 22 night-shift nurses. They were called over the phone by a "Dr. Smith" and asked to retrieve a drug from a cabinet (the drug was actually a placebo), they were told the dose was 10mg, but then Dr. Smith directed them to give a "Mr. Jones" 20Mg. 21 of the nurses were going to comply with the order. This breaks 3 different Hospital rules.
Hofling shows that people are often unwilling to question orders from authority. https://www.simplypsychology.org/hofling-obedience.html
