Description:
Sulfanilamide deeply decreased mortality rates during World War II. The sulfa powder was immediately sprinkled on any open wound to prevent infection. It was commonly used by American soldiers. Every soldier was issued a first aid kit that could be attached to the soldier’s belt. The first aid kit contained a package of sulfa powder and a bandage to dress the wound. [1]
