jan 1, 1997 - First Primate Created by Embryonic Cell Nuclear Transfer
Description:
Four men (Li Meng, John Ely, Richard Stouffer, and Don Wolf) took early-stage embryonic cells and a monkey egg cell and fused them with a small electrical shock. They then put them in a surrogate mother. Out of 29, two monkeys were born.
This showed that primates, humans' closes relatives, could be cloned.
