jan 1, 1996 - Dolly: First Mammal created by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer
Description:
Ian Wilmut and Keith Campbell came back again to create a lamb from the nucleus from an adult sheep into a sheep egg cell. The reason this normally doesn't work is because when the adult cell is to be used its genetic information must be reset, which is often incomplete so it fails.
So out of 277 attempts, only a single lamb, named Dolly, was brought to live. Dolly started conversations about cloning to the public, but it also brought controversies over human cloning.
