jan 1, 1902 - Artifical Embryo Twinning in a Vertebrate

Description:

Hans Spemann used a strand of baby hair to tightened between two cells of a salamander embryo until the two sticky cells separated. Each grew to an adult salamander. When he tried again with further developing embryos, it didn't work out.

This proved that embryos from a more complex animal can be cloned, but only up to a certain development stage.
