Description:
Use of autokinetic effect to study conformity, had Ss put into a dark room and tell him how much a pinpointed light moved. When Ss were alone, the light moved 2-6 inches. When confederates were also present, and they said the light moved 6 inches, Ss were more likely to say the light moved further than 2-4 inches. Eventually, they all would say the same number.This shows that they reached a consensus in the group.
