Description:

The Louisiana Purchase was the acquisition of land by the United States from France in 1903. It was a 15 million dollar investment but contributed to achieving the manifest destiny. This purchase doubled the size of the United States and was essential for westward expansion. Napolean Bonaparte sold the French Territory to the U.S the French because the French needed money for the Great French War. The British had re-entered the war and the French were also were in the middle of the Haitain revolution so they could not defend or maintain Lousiana.
