As one of the journeys that gave motivation to many explorers, Bartholomew Dias's voyage around the Cape of Good Hope was a very impactful. He was attempting to find the source of the Eastern trade goods, and ran into the bottom of Africa known as the Cape of Good Hope. He started to explore along it and the rest of the African coast. Christopher Columbus actually set sail because he had seen that Portugal was getting close to finding the trade goods.
