After the Terror, the revolution pulled back a bit and another new constitution was put into place. At this point, France was still at war with Austria and Britain, both wars that France ended up winning, largely thanks to a little corporal named Neapolitan Bonaparte. In 1799, Napoleon Bonaparte led a coup d'e'tat which established him as Fist Consul.
