mar 31, 1776 - Abigail's Adams Letter

Description:

Wife of Founding Father John Adams, Abigail Adams expresses to her husband and the Continental Congress her concerns about them forgetting about the rights of women. She states in her letter, "remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors" (Adams). She wanted to ensure that along with the rights of men, that those in power in this new nation will also keep in mind the importance of women. Though the term was not coined yet, this letter began an important movement within the now-"Feminist" community.
