Description:
Over a couple of weeks in the spring of 1863, Union troops surrounded a Confederate camp at Vicksburg, not letting and supplies or troops in. Confederate soldiers and townspeople began to starve, so eventually, on July 4th they surrendered, and now the north now controlled all of the Mississippi River and the western parts of the confederacy were now cut off.
