jul 6, 1954 - Geneva Accords

Description:

These were an agreement that temporarily separated Vietnam into two zones. The gathering was originally brought together to talk about two Cold War hotspots. Berlin and Korea. A northern zone for the Viet Minh and a southern zone for the state of Vietnam. They provided a 300 day grace period. Allowing for people to move to either the north or the south and the United States provided assistance for people who wanted to move to the south.

---The Geneva Accords were significant because they brought an end to the First Indochina War and marked the end of French influence in Southeast Asia.
