apr 28, 1970 - Nixon's New Plan

Description:

Nixon had a new plan for fighting in the war after the Tet Offensive. His goal was to get out of Vietnam without it looking like a defeat. This was going to be achieved by achieving peace with honor, and by using Vietnamization. They began taking the war to north Vietnam so that they would want peace, and if the north Vietnamese won the war then the U.S. would not have looked defeated.
This new plan affected the war massively because it changed the way that the whole U.S. fighted in the war. It meant that they would no longer fight to win, but fight to not lose. However, the plan was an incredible failure and lead to Nixon losing a lot of credibility with the American population.
