Description:

The U.S. was pursuing any perceived Viet Cong after the Tet Offensive. They went into the village of My Lai and attempted to find the VC, however no one admitted to being VC. The soldiers then proceeded to massacre many of the villagers, even though they were innocent. This attack was mostly put to a stop after a helicopter pilot helped some villagers escape.
This event influenced the war because it affected the troops morale. It also made some leaders in the U.S. military lose morale as well, because they hated to see the villagers get massacred.
