jan 27, 1973 - Paris Peace Accords
Description:
The Paris Peace Accords is the peace treaty signed to end the Vietnam war and bring peace to Vietnam. After signing the treaty, there was an immediate cease-fire between the opposing forces. Along with this, the U.S. had 60 days to evacuate all troops from the now-unified Vietnam. U.S. prisoners of war were to be returned to the country. Vietnam was to be reunited.
This event had an obviously large impact on the Vietnam war, as it was the treaty that ended the war. It was made to look like no one lost, because the U.S. had 60 days to evacuate from Vietnam and got their P.O.W.’s back. North Vietnam achieved its goal of reuniting the two Vietnams.
