may 4, 1970 - Kent State Massacre

Description:

The Kent State Massacre occurred during a protest of the Vietnam war on the Kent State campus. Guards were worried that the protest would be become too violent, and opened fire on the students. Most students that were shot were protesting, however some were simply walking by the event. It killed a total of 4 students and wounded 9 more.
Following the massacre, the largest student strike in the history of America occurred. It is important to the war because some soldiers refused to continue their fights in the war because of the students, and because it caused massive protests throughout America about the war.
