nov 16, 450 BC - Twelve tables of law established
Description:
Patrician and Plebeians and which consuls would have to enforce. The result was the first written Roman legal code, which was posted in the Roman Forum. Only some of the terms survive, and these only in the form of quotations by later authors. The Twelve Tables code was, in general, a very conservative document that underlined existing rights and practices rather than creating new ones. It reflected interests of the ruling (patrician) class, especially with regard to property and family matters.
