Louis XV was born on February 15, 1710, and died on May 10, 1774. He was the great grandson of King Louis XIV, and became a young king at the age of 5 after Louis XIV's death. Unlike his great grandfather however, he did not govern the country by himself at this young age, and a regent did most jobs for him until he was 13. His rule also saw the decline of the authority of the royal family in France, which helped to light the spark for the later French revolution.
