- Colonel Paul Tibbets flew the bomber plane named "Enola Gay"
- The bomb was dropped over the Japanese city of Hiroshima, which housed an important Japanese military center
- The plane released an atomic bomb nicknamed "Little Boy" caused nearly every building in the city to turn to dust within 43 seconds. The final death toll amounted to 150,000 including those who died later on from the radiation.
- Although The destruction caused by the Manhattan Project's bomb killed nearly over 80,000 Japanese citizens directly after the drop, the Japanese leaders hesitated to surrender.
