jan 1, 1897 - J.J. Thomson
Description:
A British chemist who lived from 1856 to 1940, Thompson discovered the electron through his experiments with Cathode Rays. He shot an electrical charge through a cathode ray tube, discovering that a negatively charged particle (the electron) was being repelled from the negative side of the tube. He also came up with his Plum Pudding Model, a model showing negative ions in a positive cloud.
