William of Orange decides to take the throne from King James II. This leads to a constitutional monarchy, in which the king and queen hold less power. The Glorious Revolution was caused by a long strain of problems between Parliament and the monarchy. It led to civil war, distress and power vacuums. The Dutch William of Orange took this opportunity to send an army to England and seize the throne as his.
