jan 1, 1534 - Church of England founded
Description:
King Henry VIII founded the Church of England. The Church of England retained some aspects of the Catholic mass, more so than Lutheranism. They had services, which contained some mass music. A great service was contrapuntal and melismatic, while a short service was chordal and syllabic. The Church also had anthems, which corresponds to the latin for motet. A full anthem was unaccompanied and contrapuntal, while a verse anthem contained instruments.
