Born in the British West Indies, Alexander Hamilton arrived to the colonies as a teenager. /He was a member of the Continental Congress, and an author of the Federalist Papers, which offered reasoned support for the ratification of the constitution./ He was the first secretary of the Treasury, where he came up with the idea of Americas’ first National Bank. He was also an advocate for a strong central government.
