jul 3, 1786 - Shay's Rebellion

Description:

/Under the Articles of Confederation, states had different economic policies from each other and each could create their own currency./ Many found themselves in debt and in danger of losing land because they couldn’t pay taxes or repay creditors. Massachusetts monetary, taxation, and foreclosure policies provided little relief for debtors. Daniel Shay called for tax reductions and issuance of paper money. Massachusetts appeals to Congress for help and they have the inability of the national government to respond. The rebellion is destroyed by the Massachusetts militia and after the rebellion the Massachusetts government passed tax-relief statues.
