mar 31, 1798 - Hamilton vs. Jefferson

Description:

After the 1st political parties were created, tensions arose in the 1790s. The main arguments and conflict occurred between Alexander Hamilton of the Federalists, and Thomas Jefferson of the Democratic-Republicans. Both political parties had their own opinions and principles that for the most part greatly opposed one another. The federalists felt that the government could have all the power while the Republicans wanted to limit the federal power and have more states rights. Through these arguments and conflicts, more amendments/clauses were added to the constitution including the necessary and proper clause.
