jan 1, 1812 - 4. War of 1812

Description:

*With Jefferson having doubled the size of America essentially overnight, a new sense of pride had fallen upon the American population.* This was especially true for the warhawks, politicians living west of the Appalachians, who wanted to annex British Canada and eliminate the "Indian Threat". With the Americans having gained this new national pride, they felt that it was right and just to go to war with Britain, and so, in 1812, they declared war. Nothing really came of the war, however following the Treaty of Ghent, the armistice which ended the war, Andrew Jackson won a decisive battle at New Orleans, which lead to the American's being even more prideful.
